Not Your Mom’s Grilled Cheese: Our Artisan Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

The “bones” of grilled cheese— cheese, butter, bread—endure, but our creative spinoffs offer satisfying flavor and variety. We believe our customers expect greater customization and broader sandwich options and this is how we do it.

  • Change up the cheese. We replace American with our artisan fontina, aged cheddars, smoked chipotle, herb and spice havarti, pimiento-cheese spread, etc. Layer flavor with a three-cheese approach. Combine cheddar with a boldly flavored aged cheese, and a soft, melty cheese like havarti or flavored cream cheese, and you have a winning combination.
  • Add more cheese to the outside. Butter and crust the outside of the bread with shredded Parmesan or Romano for added crunch and flavor. Our grilled cheese sandwiches are absolutely dynamite and will play anywhere.
  • Use innovative fillings. Anything is fair game, but we don’t use so much of the additional ingredients that the sandwich loses its focus as a grilled cheese.
  • Spice things up. We've created our own signature with our "plus-one" approach. We've gone global with our use of chutney, Sriracha, and salsa and have enhance flavor with fruit jam, onion marmalade, relish, vinaigrettes, and even truffle oil.
  • Break away from ordinary bread. How can we call ourselves Artisan if we didn't dabble with artisan breads. We've used dutch crunch rolls, Bianca breads, ciabattas, challahs, Texas toast, buttermilk biscuits, waffles, foccacia, baguettes, and even hand made tortillas. Trendy breads such as sliced brioche, Hawaiian and piadina have quickly become more prevalent on our menus.

BAD BUDDHA... GREAT COMPANY! Top Reasons to Buy Local, Eat Local and Go Local.

BAD BUDDHA... GREAT COMPANY! Top Reasons to Buy Local, Eat Local and Go Local.

By choosing local and independent businesses as suppliers, our sister company Bad Buddha Ice Tea is taking the idea of local to the next level. Here are their top 5 reasons for keeping it local and not outsourcing to China.

BUILD COMMUNITY! The casual encounters you enjoy at neighborhood–scale businesses and the public spaces around them build relationships and community cohesiveness.

STRENGTHEN YOUR LOCAL ECONOMY! Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns 3 times more money to your local economy than one spent at a chain. Now that's a benefit we all can bank on.

SHAPE OUR CHARACTER! Independent businesses help give your community its distinct personality.

LOWER TAXES! More efficient land use and more central locations mean local businesses put less demand on our roads, sewers, and safety services. They also generate more tax revenue per sales dollar. The bottom line: a greater percentage of local independent businesses keeps your taxes lower.

LOWER CARBON FOOTPRINT! The shorter distance any product has to travel, the fewer CO2 gases put into the atmosphere.
